It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Lehners. John is survived by his loving wife and two children.
John was a well-known friend, co-worker, and colleague to many in the industry. He was a founding partner of Design Works Engineering, and the President of Design Works Inspections. His career in engineering spanned 29 years, 8 of which were at Design Works. John brought a flexible perspective and attitude to every project he took on, prioritizing the meaningful relationships he built along the way.
John touched the lives of many people over the course of his vibrant life. His legacy will live on through the many buildings and subdivisions he fund-raised and built, new engineering graduates he mentored, and the countless relationships he fostered over the years.
John’s contributions to his community stretch far beyond his engineering career. He spent almost two decades on the Grande Prairie Public School Board, nine of those as chair, and served as a City of Grande Prairie Councillor to name just a couple. John will be remembered as a loving husband and father, for his unique sense of humour, personality, and selfless community involvement.
This loss will surely shake the engineering community, and our hearts are with the entire Lehners’ family. Please join us in remembering an exceptional man, John Lehners.
