Diversity, Inclusion, & Accessibility
What We Believe
At Design Works Engineering, our team reflects the communities we work in. People from different backgrounds, countries, disciplines, and lived experiences collaborate every day — and that mix is part of what makes the engineering stronger. We're committed to a workplace where every person is treated fairly, respected, and given an equal opportunity to contribute and advance on merit.

Our Commitments
- Recognize and value each person's individual contributions and perspective.
- Maintain a work environment grounded in dignity and respect, and actively recruit and retain a diverse workforce that reflects the communities we serve.
- Meet all applicable human rights, employment, and accessibility legislation — as a floor, not a ceiling.
- Foster respectful communication at every level of the organization.
- Address intimidation, bullying, victimization, or harassment of any form — with clear and appropriate disciplinary action.
Accessibility Feedback
Accessibility is built into how we operate — not added afterward. We work to ensure equal access and participation for people with disabilities in a way that upholds their dignity and independence, treating accessibility as a design problem: integrate it early, meet needs promptly, and remove barriers before they become blockers.
The same standard applies to how we serve clients. Our accessible customer service policies are grounded in independence, dignity, integration, and equal opportunity — for everyone who works with us or walks through our doors.

We welcome feedback on how we provide accessible customer service. Your input helps us identify barriers and respond to concerns. You can reach us at: • Email: info@designworkseng.com • Edmonton Office: 780-244-0252 • Grande Prairie Office: 780-814-5533 All feedback, including complaints, is directed to both the Director of Administration and the HSE Manager. Our feedback process is available in accessible formats upon request.

Accessible Communication
On request, we provide information about our organization and services in accessible formats or with communication supports. We work directly with the person making the request to find a suitable format. If information is genuinely unconvertible, we provide:
- an explanation as to why the information or communications are unconvertible; and
- a summary of the unconvertible information or communications.
Our Promise
- Run programs, services, and activities that are inclusive and accessible by default.
- Apply deliberate inclusion strategies when developing, modifying, or rolling out policies, processes, or services.
- Work to remove physical, systemic, attitudinal, information, communication, technological, and transportation barriers.
- Build and maintain internal and external partnerships that inform inclusive decision-making and community-responsive services.
- Resource and train staff to create an environment where people are respected, treated with dignity, and able to reach their full potential.
- Every individual is responsible for treating colleagues with respect and supporting full, non-discriminatory participation in the employment process.
- Every individual is responsible for reporting behaviour that is contrary to this policy to management.
- Design Works is an equal opportunity employer. Employment decisions are made on merit.
- Everyone is responsible for building a culture that embraces, respects, and values differences.
