Our Commitment to ESG

Engineering a Sustainable Future

ESG isn't a framework we adopted to check a box. It reflects how we've always believed engineering should be done: with an eye on environmental impact, a commitment to the communities we serve, and a standard of integrity that doesn't bend under pressure. Here's what that looks like in practice.

Environmental Stewardship

Sustainable design isn't a premium add-on — it's our baseline. Every project is an opportunity to reduce energy use, lower operational costs, and build something that performs for decades.

  • Delivering high-performance buildings: Two LEED-certified schools in Edmonton, AB and a Passive House affordable housing development in Hamilton, ON — projects that set a new benchmark for efficiency, sustainability, and occupant comfort.

  • Driving energy efficiency: Our energy modelling team works alongside mechanical and electrical engineers to modernize outdated building systems, replacing them with high-efficiency, low-carbon alternatives that measurably reduce operational costs and emissions.

  • Leading the way forward: Two more LEED schools are currently in progress. We continue to push green building design forward — advanced materials, high-efficiency HVAC, and smart energy systems that redefine what efficiency and performance look like.

Social Responsibility

The buildings we engineer become part of people's daily lives. We take that seriously — designing for accessibility, affordability, and long-term community resilience, not just immediate function.

  • Affordable, sustainable housing: Applying Passive House principles to create energy-efficient living spaces that are cheaper to operate and easier to maintain — so affordability holds up over time, not just on day one.

  • Community-first design: Every project is planned with accessibility, inclusivity, and long-term community impact in mind — creating spaces that work for diverse users and support wellbeing.

  • Investing in the next generation: We support education, mentorship, and workforce development programs to bring more talent into engineering and the trades.

Governance and Ethical Leadership

Good governance is what makes every other commitment credible. We hold ourselves to clear standards of transparency, ethical conduct, and responsible decision-making — on every project, at every level of the organization.

  • Industry leadership: We continuously refine our governance structures so that our policies meet — and, where possible, exceed — industry standards for ethical conduct and corporate responsibility.

  • Sustainable business practices: From procurement to project execution, we uphold responsible sourcing, fair labour practices, and environmentally conscious decision-making.

  • Long-term impact: Embedding ESG into daily operations isn't just about the buildings we design — it builds a culture of responsibility and trust that outlasts any single project.
