Canada Permanent Building

Project Description

Constructed in 1910 and granted heritage status in 1995, the Canada Permanent Building is a landmark of Edmonton’s downtown. Once home to the Canada Permanent Mortgage Company and later the Japanese Village restaurant, the site has now being thoughtfully revitalized.

Design Works Engineering worked hand in hand with Kyle & Co. to provide mechanical and electrical services for its adaptive reuse, ensuring modern systems integrate seamlessly with the building’s historic character. The three-storey space has being reimagined with Bar Trove, a European-inspired bar on the main floor, Trove Living, a curated furniture showroom on the second, and modern office space for Kyle & Co. above—bringing new life to a property vacant for over a decade.
