BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir
Project Description
Preserving sacred grounds with precision civil engineering in Edmonton's west end
This project delivers essential site infrastructure upgrades to protect and enhance the serene environment surrounding Edmonton's BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir. Our civil engineering scope focuses on intelligent drainage solutions—revising parking lot grading across west, north, and east areas to ensure positive water flow toward catchbasins while maintaining gentle, pedestrian-friendly slopes for devotees of all ages.
Key features include strategic installation of swales, perforated subdrains, and area drains around landscaped zones to safeguard the Mandir's foundation from water infiltration, plus storm sewer integration with existing municipal infrastructure—eliminating the need for disruptive new street connections. A forward-looking sanitary service stub is also incorporated to seamlessly support the Mandir's future expansion plans.
All work honors the site's spiritual character: existing curbs and access points remain untouched, preserving the Mandir's established presence while elevating functional resilience. Designed to City of Edmonton standards and supported by a 50% fee donation from Design Works Engineering, this project reflects shared commitment to a sacred space where faith, community, and thoughtful engineering harmoniously converge.
