Martin Blue Vicuna joined Design Works Engineering as a Mechanical Design Associate in July 2021, and has since become a reliable contributor to the firm's mechanical drawing and coordination work. A Registered and Licensed Mechanical Engineer, he produces mechanical drawings for Canadian projects, coordinates across multiple disciplines, assists senior engineers with system design, applies code and standard requirements, and manages documentation and submittals throughout the project lifecycle.

His technical toolkit covers AutoCAD and Revit, and his work spans HVAC and plumbing design through to construction phase, a range that requires him to process both systems simultaneously to minimize clashes and system interference before they reach the field. He is comfortable presenting design decisions in internal and external meetings, and brings a communication style that supports the cross-disciplinary coordination that multidisciplinary engineering projects depend on.

Martin came to Design Works early in his professional career, bringing a strong technical foundation from his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering at Laguna State Polytechnic University. He has used his time at the firm to develop expertise in system sizing, code compliance, and the engineering judgment that comes with working on live Canadian projects across varied building types. His approach to the role is focused on growth, developing from a technical drafting and coordination contributor toward the design decision-making that senior mechanical engineering practice requires.
