Jerome Lazaro
,
SENIOR MECHANICAL DESIGNER

Jerome Lazaro has spent more than 20 years in mechanical design engineering, with the longest and most formative stretch of that career in the industrial cities and Royal Commission environments of Saudi Arabia. At Design Works Engineering, where he has worked as a Mechanical Designer since January 2018, he brings that depth to plumbing, fire protection, and HVAC design for Canadian projects, working from concept through detailed design and construction documentation.

His career began at Mendoza Engineering in Quezon City, where he spent nearly a decade as a junior mechanical design engineer, building his foundational skills in CAD drafting, design calculations, and bill of quantities preparation. He moved to Saudi Arabia in 2007, joining Tanaghom Consulting and Gulf Construction Est. in Jubail Industrial City and Jeddah, where he worked for over eight years as a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer and Site Engineer on projects governed by SABIC codes and Royal Commission engineering and drafting standards. Working in one of the world's largest industrial cities gave him a depth in specification-heavy mechanical design that demands precision across multiple code frameworks. Two subsequent assignments in Riyadh followed before he joined Design Works.

His technical scope covers sanitary and plumbing design, fire protection system design, including sprinkler and hose system calculation using ELITE software, HVAC design and load calculation, and full CAD documentation from preliminary through construction phase. He is fluent in IBC, IFC, IPC, IMC, and NFPA standards, alongside the Saudi code environments where he spent the majority of his career. He holds a diploma in Architecture and Graphics Technology with a specialization in Mechanical Systems from the Technological University of the Philippines.
