What Makes Us Grateful

As we head into Thanksgiving weekend, I’ve been reflecting on what gratitude means in our industry — and for me, it always comes back to people.

As we head into Thanksgiving weekend, I’ve been reflecting on what gratitude means in our industry — and for me, it always comes back to people.

Engineering can sometimes be defined by drawings, designs, and deadlines, but the real foundation of our work is the people who bring those ideas to life. The teams who collaborate across offices, the clients who trust us with their vision, the partners who help us deliver, and the communities that welcome what we build — they’re what make all of this meaningful.

Every project we take on is ultimately about improving someone’s day-to-day life — a family moving into a new home, a child learning in a safer school, a patient receiving care in a well-designed facility. That’s what makes our profession special. It’s not just about the technical; it’s about creating something that serves others.

At Design Works, we’ve always believed in using our work to make a difference — whether it’s through sustainable design, mentorship, or supporting the communities we live in. This time of year is a good reminder that we’re all part of something bigger than ourselves, and that even small contributions can create lasting impact.

I’m deeply thankful for our entire team — for their dedication, integrity, and the way they continually push boundaries. I’m equally grateful for our clients and partners, who continue to challenge us and trust us to help shape the future of the built environment.From all of us at Design Works, wishing everyone a safe, restful, and meaningful Thanksgiving weekend.
