Kris Sion knew engineering was the right path. But it wasn�t until he got started that he found his true calling.

�Back then I was looking for a career that involved hands-on field work, and electrical stood out to me,� Kris said.

�But I ended up really enjoying the design side of things. That was my first job, and I fell in love with it.�

Kris joined the team earlier this week as our new Electrical Designer. After graduating from NAIT in 2017 as an Electrical Engineering Technician, Kris furthered his training by becoming a Certified Engineering Technologist with ASET in 2022. To him, designing systems just comes naturally.

�I enjoy researching, problem-solving, and creating designs. It just clicked for me.�

His work experience has been a mix of residential, commercial, and light industrial, but he says his favourite projects tend to be tenant improvements.

�That�s where I think you get the most valuable experience as a designer,� Kris said. �New builds tend to follow similar patterns, but upgrades challenge you to think differently and problem-solve in real time."

Kris is excited to bring those problem-solving skills to Design Works, where our designers are involved in projects from start to finish.

"I like being hands-on and learning every part of the process,� Kris said.

�It helps me grow and become more valuable as a professional.�

In his spare time, Kris likes to stay active playing basketball, tennis, and badminton, but you�ll also find him gaming on his PC. He�s enthusiastic about diving headfirst into new projects with Design Works.

�I�m excited to grow with the company and contribute however I can.�
