Douglas Manor Reconstruction
Design Works is supporting the mechanical engineering for the reconstruction of the historic Douglas Manor in Edmonton, AB.

One brick at a time, we’re rebuilding a piece of Edmonton’s history.
Douglas Manor is rising again in the heart of Garneau. The building was designated a Municipal Historical Resource in 2019 before being destroyed by fire in July 2022. Today, a faithful reconstruction is well underway.
Ahmed AlJarakh, P.Eng., [M.Sc](http://m.sc/). and Ahmad Serhal, M.Eng., EIT recently visited the site to review construction progress and mechanical system installations. Rough-in work is being completed by Rohit Enterprise, with Award Construction Ltd. serving as the general contractor.
Built in 1914 as a rooming house, Douglas Manor has taken on many roles over the years, including a seminary, dormitory, orphanage, and apartment building.
Thanks to the collaboration between the owner and the City’s Heritage Conservation Unit, this Edmonton landmark is being restored with care and purpose.
