Design Works turns 11 years old today!

𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝟭𝟭 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀

On August 25, 2014, Design Works opened its doors in Grande Prairie, Alberta, with a vision to deliver a distinctive brand of engineering services — one that would evolve alongside cultural, economic, and technological change.

Founded by Haydar Al Dahhan, P.Eng., P.E., IntPE, APEC, MIET, and John Lehners, P.Eng., the firm began with a simple yet powerful idea: engineering that’s collaborative, innovative, and client-focused.

Eleven years later, that vision has grown into something extraordinary. Today, Design Works operates 15 offices across North America and the Philippines, supported by a global network of partners and a multidisciplinary team that thrives on tackling complex challenges. Our expansion into markets from Edmonton to Orlando reflects not just growth in size, but also in capability and impact.

Year after year, Design Works has sustained 20% growth, a testament to the trust of our clients and the dedication of our people. Along the way, we’ve been recognized among the industry’s best — named to the Zweig Group Hot Firms list in 2022, and most recently honored with the Excellence Canada 2025 Canadian Business Excellence Award.

But for us, the future is just as important as the past. As we celebrate this milestone, we’re also making bold strides in technology and AI — reshaping how engineering services are delivered, ensuring that innovation is built into every project we take on.
