Why Continuity Matters
Lessons learned can't become lessons lost

At Design Works, every project teaches us something.
From the way systems integrate to how schedules flow, we believe that progress isn’t just about innovation — it’s about continuity. The ability to learn, remember, and apply those lessons the next time.
Ty Seifeddine, P.Eng, our VP, discusses how the lifecycle of a project can turn lessons learned into lessons lost:
“At the start of every project, clients usually share their lessons learned from past projects if they've done similar ones — what worked, what didn’t, and how they want to do things better this time.
But sometimes there’s a gap between that kickoff and when engineering truly begins. People change, priorities shift, and those early lessons can get lost in the process.
This is why we strive to maintain continuity with our staff. It’s how we make sure the knowledge and experience gained from one project carries forward to the next.”
Our processes evolve, our communication improves, and our standards rise — all because we carry that shared experience forward.
It’s how we build trust — not just by doing great work, but by making sure every project makes the next one better.
