As President, Chief Executive Officer, and co-founder of Design Works Engineering, Haydar Al Dahhan has been instrumental in taking the firm from a small, two-person operation in Northern Alberta to a highly respected, multi-national engineering powerhouse in just eight years. Under his leadership, the company has grown to employ over 120 experts in various fields, becoming known for its innovative and integrated approach to engineering, as well as its focus on human-centric teams.

Haydar was born in England and raised in several major international cities, which have provided him with a unique perspective and understanding of the global engineering industry. He moved to Canada in 2001 to continue his education, ultimately landing in Grande Prairie, Alberta. It was here that he saw the potential to build a foundation for his business while observing the ebb and flow of construction needs in nearby Edmonton. In 2017, he made the decision to move his company to the larger city, where he believed there would be even more opportunities for growth and expansion.

As a member of the Edmonton business community, Haydar has been highly active and engaged, serving as a board member and contributor to the policy committee for the Edmonton Chamber of Commerce for a three-year term. During his tenure, he gained a deep appreciation for the vital role that an active chamber plays in supporting the wellbeing and economic growth of the community and its businesses. In 2023, Haydar was elected Chair of the Board of Directors for the Edmonton Chamber of Commerce.

In addition to his role with the Edmonton Chamber of Commerce, Haydar has also completed a three-year tenure as a director with the Grande Prairie Construction Association. He has worked closely with specialists and influencers both on the board and in the community, helping to boost awareness and development through a successful array of events and services.
