read

We hope you're all having a great week so far! Now continuing our series with a couple more quotes from our insightful team! 🖋 🔊 ⚙

"Engineers are equipped with tools and fundamental knowledge based on scientific principles. We apply this knowledge and these tools to design, analyze, synthesize and create something useful and dependable.

Innovation is essential for engineers. It involves finding creative, effective and efficient solutions to address difficult challenges such as pollution and resource depletion. It can be as simple as developing a design template that can increase productivity, or taking a holistic approach, such as decreasing the use of harmful refrigerants by replacing them with environmentally friendly alternatives. Innovation is crucial for engineers because it plays a role in delivering products or services that are unique and useful to a business model or to a customer."

- Jones Boncato, P.Eng., Sr. Mechanical Engineer, Burlington, ON

"I believe the engineering industry is adaptive to the needs of society, one of which being sustainability. In Structural Engineering, for example, we try to do it by different means: Using recyclable and natural materials such as timber, conducting research and developing materials with better longevity, and ensuring an energy efficiency model for buildings. Sustainability is about satisfying the next generation's needs, and also reducing long-term costs. Engineering progress is addressing both of these crucial elements.

- Hossein Mohammadi, MASc, P.Eng., Structural Lead | Eastern Canada, Toronto, ON

Coming up at the end of the week: Our team wraps up their thoughts as National Engineering Month comes to a close. Stay tuned!
